Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida Celebrates 60th Anniversary with Clay County Expansion

Culminating with its 60th anniversary celebration, Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida is now expanding into Clay County with seven new Boys & Girls Clubs in elementary, middle and high schools.

This growth is part of the organization’s strategic vision to serve more young people. With this recent Clay County expansion, Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida now provides after-school and summer youth development programs at 48 Clubs throughout Alachua, Clay, Duval and St. Johns counties.

“During this anniversary year, we’re proudly celebrating the great futures created through our Clubs over the past 60 years. Seeing our Club alumni succeed also encourages us to expand our reach so more young people across Northeast Florida can access the resources and opportunities found at our Clubs,” said Paul Martinez, President & CEO, Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida and a former Club kid.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida will be providing free after-school and summer programs at the following Clay County schools:

  • Clay High School

  • Grove Park Elementary School

  • Keystone Heights Jr./Sr. High School

  • Montclair Elementary School

  • Orange Park Jr. High School

  • Orange Park High School

  • Wilkinson Jr. High School

This marks the first time in its 60-year history that Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida will offer services in Clay County. Each Boys & Girls Club provides a safe place, caring adult mentors, fun and friendship, and high-impact youth development programs for ages 6 to 18 during critical non-school hours and during the summer.

Based on the physical, emotional, cultural and social needs and interests of young people, Clubs offer diversified programs in five core areas:

  • Character & Leadership

  • Education & Workforce Readiness

  • The Arts

  • Health & Wellness

  • Sports & Recreation

These five program areas also offer exciting new employment opportunities for those in Clay County looking to impact the lives of the next generation. Boys & Girls Clubs is currently hiring qualified and professional staff to lead these Clubs with competitive compensation and benefits packages. Full-time Unit Directors are starting at $50,000 per year, part-time Certified Teachers are starting at $31 per hour and part-time Youth Development Professionals are starting at $15 per hour.
