Happy Tuesday! Welcome back to BGCNF At Home! Today we’re going to make some slime, get messy, have fun, learn and compete all at once! I hope you’re ready for this slimy challenge!
Slime Challenge
To Create Your Slime you need:
Contact solution/saline solution
Glue
Baking soda
Cornstarch
Salt
Water
Baggies
Yard stick or measuring tape
Mixing bowl(s) or cup(s)
Measuring spoon
Spoon for mixing

Let’s make some slime. With the help of a parent, start with the general slime recipe below.
General Slime Recipe
1 bottle (or 4 ounces) of glue
½ teaspoon baking soda
2 tablespoons of contact solution
Knead ingredients together in a bowl. Once the slime is mixed up, a parent will divide it into smaller pieces and give you one to work with.
Put Your Slime To The Test
Stretch Competition:
Stretch your slime as far as you can without it breaking. Using a yardstick or a measuring tape, measure the length of your slime and make a note of it. Make sure to get at least three measurements.
Bounce competition:
Choose your test location (on a table or near a wall). Get the yardstick or measuring tape ready, then bounce your slime next to it. Note the height your slime reaches.
Graph Your Results
Using the results from your stretch and bounce tests, how can you graph your findings? Think about the type of graph you would use. You can choose from a bar graph or line graph. Think about your X and Y axis. You should include your distance in one axis and your attempt number in the other axis. You can calculate the average distance your slime stretched or bounced by adding the results together and dividing that total by the number of results you added.
Reflection
Take a moment to answer these questions:
What, if anything, would you change in your slime design?
Did you have all the materials you needed? If not, what would you add?
